Us |
Both of us had worked in offices and were looking for a different lifestyle. Living full time on the road was 7 years in the planing and started when we took a test trip in 2008 to Darwin for 3 months with a Ford Falcon and Jayco Poptop van. Enjoying the time imensly we realised there were a number of milestones we would have to achieve before the dream could become a reality. Living on the road is different from holidaying you can't say "we'll sort that out when we get back". The plan is to travel four years experiencing as much of this life as we can even then we will have only just scratched the surface of this great country. |

The Tug |
Is a 2011 DX Manual Nissan Patrol. Has a 4 Cyclinder 3 litre Diesel with Turbo and Intercooler. We bought it brand new then accessorised it with an Opposite Lock Bull Bar, Nissan Tow Hitch, Window tint, Clearview mirrors, Polaris Universal In Dash Multimedia Unit, Dash Cam and UHF Radio other than that it is standard. It's been a good and reliable vehicle but I would like a little bit more support in the rear end to carry the addtional weight. My constant battle is keeping the weight down. |

The Van |
Is a 2012 Retreat Fraser. We opted for a roller rocker suspension as we planned to only ride the blacktop with off road limited to driving the few 100 metres to a campsite. The van was extended by a foot as it worked out cheaper than buying the next size up. We fitted a few extras including a 120w solar panel, Sail Track along the right Hand Side and a Truma gas heater. We also had a complete set of annexe walls made. We have had a few issues but generally the van has been solid and reliable. Again the biggest challenge is keeping the weight down. |
