Port Douglas is located about 70 km north of Cairns. You can get there by either going over the Kuranda Range to Mareeba then along the Kennedy Hwy and back down the Rex range or just straight up the Captain Cook Hwy along the coastal drive. The markets are held each Sunday down by the river at the end of town.

Frank and Alice picked us up from the caravan park then we headed for Port Douglas. We travelled down the Captain Cook Hwy which travels along a coastal route with the ocean in view for a number of Kilometres. Port Douglas was quite busy when we arrived but we managed to find a parking space not far from the markets. Walking through there are many stalls of various items mainly clothes. The quality seemed quite good. After looking at most stalls we then made our way up into the main part of town where we stopped for lunch and an ice cream.
