Left the Dubbo Big 4 caravan park early this morning we even set the alarm in case we slept in boy was that a culture shock. The caravan was getting the TV Antenna repaired and a service we wanted to make sure we got to repair shop on time.
Dropping the van off the repairer advised us it should be ready by about 3pm and would call us. We spent the day around town firstly visiting the Dubbo Gaol in the main street. The Gaol has a number of interactive displays dipicting life in prison for woman and men in the late 19th to early 20th century. Life look very hard the solitary cells were quite confronting. I think it was good value for $15.00 a head.
From there we went out to Orana Mall which is a new shopping complex out from the centre of town on the Mitchell Highway. Annie was in her element getting a shopping fix they even had a Noni B. After lunch we decided to do grocery shopping and head back to the repairers workshop and wait. While shopping the heavens opened up and dumped hail and rain on Dubbo. We were lucky as the car was undercover and our van just happened to be in the workshop at the time of the storm. We new the van was undercover as they wheeled it out just as we arrived. The rain was heavy but brief and we watched it head off towards Sydney. As we walked in the door they were literally ringing our number.
While the antenna was being replaced we also asked them to do a service. Manufacturer recommends a service every 12 months or 10,000Km which ever comes first and we had done about 15,000 so it was due. There had been a bit of grease leaking from 2 of the wheels so it was worth the check. The report came back with nothing wrong ready to go with a new antenna installed, brakes cheched and all bearings greased.
Leaving Dubbo we headed towards Parkes about 120km down the road. Post storm the wind had turned South West and was blowing quite strong. This ended up being a head wind for us and it could see the fuel gauge also going south quite quickly. About 45Km down the road we found a rest area and pulled over for the night. |
