Christmas is gone for another year. 2016 is almost over with the new year rocketing towards us. This will be our last entry for The Big Lap, Year 3. But wait! all is not over as we have one more year (or there abouts) of travelling in 2017.

New Years Eve is a big celebration in Sydney. We have seen all the fireworks and activities on Television, so just once we would like to experince it in person. Most likely once we have seen it we will say yep, been there, done that, won't be doing it again. At least we can tick it off the bucket list. Getting into and out of the CBD is a driving nightmare, especially with all the planned road closures. Public transport is the recommended way. With an additional 1,000 trains and 3,000 buses added to cater for the expected million + people, public transport will be running all night getting people home. Planning is key, and to have a backup plan is also a good idea. We have a choice, driving and parking near Pennant Hills Station, then catching the train in, or, taking the bus from a local stop, about a 30 minute walk from here. The public transport has a great app which helps in planning your route.

There is a web site you can look up which lists all the best vantage points around the harbour. Some areas cost to get in while others are free to enter. Paid areas are the best option, as they have the optimum viewing areas and well controlled. Our plan is to public transport in, walk  to Circular Quay, check out the activities then, make our way across the bridge to Milsons point for the fireworks.

Will let you know how it goes.
