After being away, with 2 Weeks in Perth, and 9 weeks in Sydney, we were now meant to be back in Walkamin, North Queensland... we are, still in Sydney.
We were scheduled to fly out of Sydney yesterday but there was a change in plans. Judy's dad sadly passed away in China just before Wim was to return home. If there is a silverlining when someone passes is that Wim and Judy were already in China when he died, and were able to seem him one last time to say goobye. As the funeral was held yesterday (Friday), Wim changed his flight to arrive back in Sydney this Tuesday instead of last Thursday.
The flow on effect is we had to change our flights, now departing this coming Wednesday. It was a little touch and go for a while as Wim didn't have a confirmed booking, and our window of opportunity to change our flights was closing. We had to pay a change fee which worked out to be $88.00 per passenger per booking Notably this still worked out cheaper than if we had bought full flexi fares. Luckly the fare was the same price so no increase there. QANTAS change prices seem fairer than Virgins. In 2015 flying Virgin we had to change dates and the change fee worked out more than the price of new airfares. We also had to let Frank know as he was going to pick us up from the airport, changing does create all sorts of complications.
This weekend Sydney will suffer through another heatwave cycle with temperatures expected to reach into the 40's, at least we have airconditioning and a pool to keep us cool, although the electricity council is warning of rolling blackouts. We have no plans to do anything during our extended stay except clean the house on Monday and pickup Wim when he returns on Tuesday. A cool change is forecasted from Sunday afternoon with the rest of following week expected to be much cooler, giving some much needed relief from the heat. |
