Another week in Sydney and the end of the first week of 2017. This is a roundup of what we have done over the past week.

New Years Day... we struggled to get out of bed! We slept through to about 12 Midday but still, we just couldn't quite get out of bed. Anne ended up with a huge headache, at least we can now take red wine off the table as the cause, she haven't had a glass for days.

The following day we took a drive out to Oma and Opa's grave site in Castlebrook Memorial Park. The anniversary of her death was on the 4th of January so it seem appropriate to go and lay flowers and pay respect to them both. We then took a drive out to Schofields and Hobartville to look at the houses where they had once lived.

Jeff, Eileen, Teish and Izzy sent us a voucher for a High Tea cruise in Sydney Harbour as a Christmas present. The voucher was valid for a year,  we booked for as early as we could using the online portal. Taking the train from Pennant Hills, we changed at Wynyard for Circular Quay. The tour departed from Wharf six in Circular Quay. We registered at the tour kiosk, picked up our tickets, then took a seat on the Wharf while we waited for the boat. There were a lot of people waiting for the same cruise, we thought, this is going to be busy.

Boarding the boat, we were ask to briefly stand to one side with a small handfull of other people. We were then guided up a separate set of stairs to a comfortable forward dining area with intimately arranged tables well spaced apart. Sitting down we could see clearly out through all the windows that surrounded us. As we left harbour we had a number of staff attentively wait on us, providing us with a delicious selection of finger food, placed on a tall stand in the centre of our table. We were also given a selection of tea's to choose from.

There was a spoken comentary over the public address system on the history of the surrounding area as we sailed down Sydney Harbour. We then turned around and headed back up stream passing under the harbour bridge and into Darling Harbour. Here we briefly moored to allow several passengers to dissembark, then turned around and headed downstream, once again passing under the harbour bridge, finally docking back a Circular Quay.  The cruise lasted for about an hour and a half, and the weather was perfect for the occasion.

After the cruise we wandered up through the Rocks district, passing under Sydney Harbour bridge to Observatory Park where Sydney Observatory is located. This beautiful park has a commanding view overlooking the bridge and western waterways of Sydney harbour. We took a wander around the grounds then browsed through the inside display's. Unfortunately it closed before we could finish so we promised ourselves we would come back another time. On the way back to the station we spied a guy playing his guitar and singing "Halleuja". From the other direction two girls walked up one with a very emotional look on her face. It seems the guy was proposing to the emotional looking girl. We spoke briefly to the other girl who had descreetly left them. She said they were childhood sweethearts and music was their passion (queue tears).
