We are planing to head off on Monday the 27th of March, unfortunately Mother Nature has decided to throw us a curve ball in the form of a possible cyclone, the first for this season.

I have been spruiking about how lucky we have been, experiencing mild weather over the past 12 months compared to 2015 where it mostly rained. Someone must be listening in, deciding to send in the big guns. The weather bureau has forecasted a tropical low turning into a cyclone just off the coast of North Queensland. It is cyclone season so, not getting a cyclone at this time of year is unusual. But the weather up here has been so mild, and there has been no cyclone's for the last 2 seasons, untill now.

This afternoon a tropical cyclone advice was issued with the forecast track map showing that it could reach a category 3. Cyclones are very unpredictable and could move in any direction, forward, left or right or even do a U turn and head back out to sea. It is expected cross the coast about 100 odd kilometres south of us, near Mission Beach but this can easly change. We are not expecting the full cyclone force winds but there will be plenty of rain, which is badly needed up here. There is not much for us to cleanup around the house, we were preparing to leave anyway, with all loose items already stored away.

How the cyclone tracks will affect when we leave, the cylone is expected to cross the coast sometime Monday 27th so we might just delay until it passes, checking road conditions before we leave. We will continue with our plans to leave on Monday, if the cyclone becomes a threat we will just wait it out.
