We have finally arrived at Cairns Coconut Tourist Park our temporary home for the next 4 weeks. We have only been here 5 minutes and we are talking about extending already.
We were going to stay at Helensvale a few more days but they put the price up from $37.00 to $57.00 per night because of a boat show being held over the weekend. We decided it was time to leave.
Saying goodbye to Darlington Beach we headed up the Highway towards the Gold Coast. We call into Mclean for the night as the brochure said this town has Scottish Heritage and the coffee at Botero was suppose to be to die for.
Our original plan leaving Sydney was to spend some time travelling north through the central lakes district and Newastle unfortunately a large storm cut its way through that area. The reports of widespread flooding as well as major power cuts forced us to change our plan with us more concerned over the main highways being passable.
Leaving Shepparton we headed back towards the Hume Hwy then continued our journey towards Sydney. I've always wanted to drive the complete length of the Hume Hwy just to see what it is like and say "Been There Done That"
