Day 57 / 2015 - St Helens to Launceston

We had to decide which way we wanted to go from St Helens to Launceston. We could either go via Scottsdale on the A3 or head back and go through St Marys and Fingal along the A4. We had sampled some of the A3 towards Scottsdale and there were several steep passes along narrow roads we had driven through before you even get to Scottsdale. Along the A4 there was only one to negociate St Marys.

Leaving Bicheno we headed further up the coast to St Helens where we hope to spend a couple of days camping at the Bay of Fires.

Day 46 / 2015 - Port Arthur to Bicheno

 Leaving Sorell we headed North up the east coast towards the much talked about Bay of Fires near St Helens. Along the way we will be passing through Freyceinet National Park to check out the other much talked about attraction Wine Glass Bay.

Day 39 / 2015 - Hobart to Port Arthur

We tried to stay some extra days in Hobart but the caravan park was all booked out over the long weekend so we packed up and headed off towards Port Arthur our next destination. Being a long weekend we thought the park at Port Arthur would also be booked out so we decided to stop at a free camp at the town of Sorell approx 25 Km from Hobart.

Hobart is the largest city in Tasmania of 250,000 people and is where half the population of Tasmania live and like the rest of Tasmania although The city is compact it packs a lot in it. Like a number of Tasmanian towns Hobart is built in a valley and is towered over by Mt Wellington standing some 1.2 km above sea level. Anne was excited to be here for another reason as Mike, Carley and Blake were in the same park on a site next to us where she could get a bit of Oma time.
