We tried to stay some extra days in Hobart but the caravan park was all booked out over the long weekend so we packed up and headed off towards Port Arthur our next destination. Being a long weekend we thought the park at Port Arthur would also be booked out so we decided to stop at a free camp at the town of Sorell approx 25 Km from Hobart.
Hobart is the largest city in Tasmania of 250,000 people and is where half the population of Tasmania live and like the rest of Tasmania although The city is compact it packs a lot in it. Like a number of Tasmanian towns Hobart is built in a valley and is towered over by Mt Wellington standing some 1.2 km above sea level. Anne was excited to be here for another reason as Mike, Carley and Blake were in the same park on a site next to us where she could get a bit of Oma time.
Our next leg of the journey is from Launceston to Hobart. Mick and Carley were travelling around the east coast towards Hobart we had decided to travel down the Midlands Rd and planned to meet them where we expected to cross over in Hobart.
We watched the ferry slide off into the darkness as it headed back towards the mainland thinking to late to turn back now. We then turned our thoughts to all the attractions and natural wonders we will see and experience over the next 3 months.
